Computer Clusters
The CNSI computing facility at UCSB consists of five high performance systems. Some are available to researchers campus wide, while some are available only to CNSI researchers.
This equipment is expensive to buy and operate, so in talks and publications, please acknowlege the CNSI Computer Facilities as well as:
- Dell and SGI users: NSF grant no. CHE-0321368
- HP (nano, QSR, Lattice) users: Hewlett-Packard
In order to optimize the performance of our systems and your computing time, please choose the computing system that best suits your needs. (highly parallel, large amounts of RAM, serial)
| System | Specifications | Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Dell Cluster | 128 node dual-Xeon cluster with Myrinet Interconnect | Highly parallel MPI |
| HP Itanium 2 | 16 node dual-Itanium2 cluster with 4Gb of RAM in each node | Serial jobs |
| HP Opteron (Lattice) | 42 node dual CPU dual/quad core Opterons with Myrinet interconnect | MPI jobs |
| HP Opteron (QSR) | 32 node dual CPU dual core Opterons w/ GigE interconnect | Both MPI and Serial |
| SGI Altix | 16 processor Altix 350 SMP system with 32 Gb of RAM | Large memory OpenMP parallel |
Please Note: If you have jobs that exceed the limits of our systems, check some of the large NSF funded supercomputer centers or visit the UCSB Supercomputing website for more information.
